Our salon specializes in European Style Waxing, mostly commonly known as "Sistema Europeo or Sistema Espanol" in South America and Europe. This style of waxing is different from the traditional waxing done in other salons in that we do not remove the wax with cloth strips which can leave sticky residue on the skin and cause increased pain due to the tugging and pulling of the strips.
Our waxing system allows the wax to be placed on the skin and be removed by pulling the wax itself. The wax is spread evenly in the area were the hair is to be removed and due to the technique used we can due larger areas in a faster time frame allowing for less discomfort to be experienced by the customer. Since our wax dries to an elastic consistency no sticky residues are left on the skin.
We carry two types of wax, one which is used for most body parts (Vegetable Wax) and one which is primarily used for the facial area( Rose Wax).
HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO GET WAXED? Typically you will need to get waxed every 3 to 5 weeks...go any sooner and you will remove some of the hairs but not all of them which will throw off your waxing schedule and will not give you clean wax results. Having said this it is also important to note that each individuals hair growth varies so the time frame between waxing should be determined by your own hair growth. The ideal hair length is approximately 1/4" this will usually provide enough length to allow the wax to adhere better and thus provide a better end result.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT WHEN I GO FOR MY WAX APPOINTMENT? Depending on what service you are having the Technician may ask you to remove your clothes/underwear in order for her to be able to perform the service without getting wax on your clothes. If you have any questions, this is a good time to ask. She will prep your skin and apply wax to the area, reapply were needed, she will discard all wax used on you (WE DO NOT RECYCLE OUR WAX) and proceed to apply a moisturizer to the area waxed which will absorb into your skin immediately and this will conclude your service.
WILL IT BE PAINFUL? Well this depends on each individual, what may seem painful for one may not seem painless for the other. We need to remember that we are pulling hair from it's roots most likely it will cause some discomfort.
CAN I GET WAXED IF I'M PREGNANT? Yes. Unless otherwise advised by your doctor it should not be a problem however we do recommend that if you are in the last trimester of your pregnancy you limit your waxing to certain areas.
After your wax visit remember to EXFOLIATE, EXFOLIATE, EXFOLIATE!! Starting 2 to 3 days after being waxed...exfoliate at least 2 to 3 times per week in the shower. Exfoliation will help get rid of the dead skin cells and help "lift" the hairs growing out. Pubic hairs are curly, and will either come out and grow right back into the skin or will try to embed themselves under the layers of dead skin cells. Either way, your skin does not recognize them as being part of your body...it views them as invaders, just like a splinter and will send the antibodies there to try to destroy it. You can also get yourselves a great pair of pointed tweezers...not to pluck, but to lift the ends of the hairs out. It is very important that you do not pluck or shave in between waxing if you want optimum results! A body brush or loofah is recommended...and throw away those crunchier loofahs...they have a hard time drying in the center and promote bacteria growth. We also carry products like “ Tend Skin “ which can also aid in bumps and ingrown's.
